Ted Keranen learned his trade by working with his father George, and has continued to carry on the tradition of “more
bang for your buck.” Ted is an expert in the old style
“pounder” or cable tool method, and uses it because of its many benefits.
It is widely believed that this method breaks up or shatters bedrock
better which develops water-bearing cracks, yielding more water in
consolidated rock formations. With much better formation sampling, this
tried and true method enables us to see every water seam encountered
while drilling the well. This makes our cable tool rig the perfect choice for wells in the Keweenaw!
In addition, our cable tool rig is especially suited for remote
or more challenging areas. We can also drill year-round, as long as there is access to your site!
We aren’t afraid to make shallow wells, where possible, due to the
relatively low overhead costs. Cable tool rigs are more energy efficient
and leave less of an impact than other types of rigs. Also, they are
smaller and lighter, enabling us to get into places other rigs may not
be able to.
